Why Were Uniforms So Varied?
Uniforms of World War I were different for many reasons. One, they altered from year to year with improvements and corrections. In addition, there was a high demand for uniforms for new soldiers. For this reason, many soldiers didn't have access to the standard, up to date uniforms or most likely, one that fit correctly.
Almost all countries' uniforms looked slightly different as well. First of all, the obvious reason, they needed to tell their men apart from the "enemy" men. Also, different countries had access to different materials and styles.
